Adaptations Book Club is our monthly book club that meets to answer the age old question: Is the book truly better?

This August, join us for a screening of David Cronenberg’s delirious adaptation of Don DeLillo’s 2003 novel Cosmopolis. Featuring Robert Pattinson in his first serious post-Twilight role, Cosmopolis follows a day in the life of billionaire Eric Packer as his world unravels.

Beguiling, uncanny, and prescient - this film marks the beginning of a new arc of Cronenberg’s career as a master of dark satires on the emptiness of the modern wealthy elite (see also: Map to the Stars, Crimes of the Future, and The Shrouds). Receiving bewildered response at the time of its 2012 release, this claustrophobic anti-thriller is a cult gem waiting to be reassessed.
